Miyuki Sawashiro and 10 Anime Characters with Calming Voices

For those who hear it for the first time, guaranteed to be tempted. Miyuki Sawashiro has a very beautiful voice.

This voice actor who was born on June 2, 1985 has a very serious and deep tone but can sound very adorable for some of her roles.

Somehow Miyuki plays a lot of my favorite characters, including some that I didn’t even know about until I checked them out on MyAnimeList. Now, I have memorized it right away, even if the character only says one or two words.

Miyuki is a voice actress who started her voice acting career in the early 2000s, her debut role was a character named Puchiko from the anime series Di Gi Charat which aired in late 1999, and has since been voice acting for over two decades.

Well, here are ten of my favorite characters voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro.

1. Kurapika (Hunter x Hunter)

kurapika hunter x hunter

The 2011 version of Hunter x Hunter has higher graphics, a full story, and a line-up of sparring voice actors.

Miyuki fills an important character: Kurapika. Is anyone still surprised to know that Kurapika is a boy? Yes, Kurapika is a man.

Even though Kurapika was a boy, Miyuki could voice his voice, and actually this was a common practice. Miyuki herself has played male characters several times.

2. Kanbaru Suruga (Monogatari)

kanbaru suruga monogatari

Since I’m a die-hard Monogatari fan, I never tire of recommending this anime series.

Monogatari is full of long and attractive dialogues, so this is a place to show the voice of the voice actor. Miyuki plays the character of Kanbaru Suruga, an athletic but super lewd woman.

3. Saeko Busujima (High School of the Dead)

A suspenseful action story with lots of fighting scenes against zombies, plus a variety of unusual ecchi scenes will definitely make High School of the Dead a more entertaining and enjoyable spectacle.

Miyuki plays Saeko Busujima. Throughout the series, Saeko is shown as a very kind, caring, strong and reliable person.

Even so, he was also calm because he almost never panicked when in a deadly battle. Saeko’s firm but gentle voice was so soothing, it fit Miyuki’s voice perfectly.

4. Maria (Arakawa Under the Bridge)

maria arakawa under the bridge

Arakawa Under Bridge is a satirical comedy, whose satire points to various aspects of Japanese life and culture, particularly in modern trends. Full of witty interactions of strange people living under the bridge.

Miyuki Sawashiro voices Maria, the owner of a river farm. Despite having a beautiful appearance, she has a very harsh and cynical personality.

She would criticize everyone he met, and that annoyed him even more because he spoke in such a soft tone.

5. Celty Sturluson (Durarara!!)

celty durarara anime

Durarara!! is a series that is very rich in characters and storylines.

While Durarara‘s plot is difficult to briefly describe, the premise mostly revolves around Celty Sturluson, a Dullahan, a Headless Horseman from Irish folklore, who searches for his head in Ikebukuro, a district of Tokyo.

Miyuki plays Celty. Celty’s personality, despite being a motorcycle-riding Dullahan, is one of the most normal and down to earth compared to most of the other characters. Celty is a confident and optimistic individual.

6. Bishamonten (Noragami)

What do the gods do in modern times? Noragami tried to answer that.

With that premise, the anime series offers exciting action scenes, punctuated by humor, a memorable opening song, and a lineup of my favorite seiyuu.

Miyuki Sawashiro here voices Bishamon, one of the Seven Lucky Gods, as well as the goddess of war.

At the beginning, Bishamon is portrayed as an antagonist, although later she becomes a protagonist, because her true nature is good.

7. Shino Asada (Sword Art Online)

When it started airing, Sword Art Online was immediately popular thanks to the adaptation of the already hit light novel.

Miyuki plays Asada Shino, or Sinon. Calm and cold were the two words that best described Sinon’s personality. In battle and most of the time, he remains calm, which earns him the admiration of his peers.

8. Kirari Momobami (Kakegurui)

Kirari Momobami is the main antagonist of Kakegurui

She is the 105th student council president at Hyakkaou Private Academy and in charge of the hierarchy that exists in the academy.

Although Kirari is a kind and polite woman from the outside, she is actually a calculating, manipulative, and psychopathic individual.

A narcissist who looks down on everyone but himself. Miyuki with her deep voice perfectly filled Kirari.

9. Hanako Koyanagi (Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku)

hanako koyanagi wotakoi

Unlike the title, Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku actually features a dream romance between a pair of otaku.

There are four main characters who have their own otaku style: Yaoi fangirl Narumi, gamer Hirotaka, cosplayer Hanako, and manga-anime fan Kabakura.

Miyuki Sawashiro plays Hanako, who is often described as a professional, assertive and hard-working woman who is admired by her coworkers. Despite that, she is short-tempered, frantic and very interested in perverted jokes.

The Hanako-Kabakura Couple is my favorite ship in Wotakoi.

10. Kyoko Honda (Fruits Basket)

Fruits Basket is one of my favorite shoujo series. Moreover, the latest remake makes me like it even more.

Miyuki Sawashiro voices Kyoko, the mother of the main protagonist Tohru Honda. Unfortunately, Kyoko passed away a few months before the start of the series. Even so, Tohru clings to her mother’s memory and calls her the most important person in his life.

Kyoko only appears in flashbacks and photos that Tohru keeps, however this doesn’t hinder Miyuki’s ability to fill a strong mother figure.
