Saiyuki is a manga series by Kazuya Minekura based on the 16th century Chinese classic Journey to the West, with the addition of various fantasy and steampunk elements.
In a twist on the classic Chinese tale, Saiyuki plays a chain-smoking monk who travels west with a group of three demons, seeking to stop anyone who tries to resurrect an ancient and powerful demon god.
