Sound! Euphonium Watch Order

Sound! Euphonium was an incredibly emotional experience and something I’d consider essential not just for anyone who digs Kyoto Animation’s work, but to fans of animation and fans of damn good filmmaking in general!

The characters within Sound! Euphonium are inherently human with realistic struggles that we all as humans face. What you will find within the wide range of characters within the story is mirrors of yourself whether in the past or present.

These stories will touch you on a personal level and leaving you full of emotions and by the time you reach the end of this anime you will be wanting more while also left with a plethora of inspiration and memories.

Spring in the first year of high school. Kumiko, a member of the brass band in junior high school, visits the high school brass band club with classmates Hazuki and Sapphire. There, she comes across Reina, her former classmate from junior high. Hazuki and Sapphire decide to join the club, but Kumiko can’t make up her mind. She recollects her experience with Reina at a competition in junior high school.

The 10 members of the concert band club who failed Taki’s audition form “Team Monaka” to support the club members participating in the Kyoto Concert Band competition. Although they didn’t play in the competition, they still had things they had to do. But on the day of the competition, the members on their way to the concert hall receive a shocking message! This is Team Monaka’s hot summer story.

After swearing off music due to an incident at the middle school regional concert band competition, euphonist Kumiko Oumae enters high school hoping for a fresh start. As fate would have it, she ends up being surrounded by people with an interest in the high school brass band. Kumiko finds the motivation she needs to make music once more with the help of her bandmates, some of whom are new like novice tubist Hazuki Katou; veteran contrabassist Sapphire Kawashima; and band vice president and fellow euphonist Asuka Tanaka. Others are old friends, like Kumiko’s childhood friend and hornist-turned-trombonist Shuuichi Tsukamoto, and trumpeter and bandmate from middle school, Reina Kousaka.

However, in the band itself, chaos reigns supreme. Despite their intention to qualify for the national band competition, as they currently are, just competing in the local festival will be a challenge—unless the new band advisor Noboru Taki does something about it.

With another tournament fast approaching, Kumiko’s band is doubling down on practice and discipline, leaving little time for sleep or other recreational activities. The redoubled practice schedule brings Kumiko and Reina closer together, but elsewhere in the band, it seems like drama threatens to tear the group’s unity apart. The ghost of the prior year’s mass band exodus still haunts many of Kumiko’s classmates, and with former band member Nozomi Kasaki now asking to return, it seems like the grudges of the past will soon be impossible to ignore.

Along with the summer brass band competition, the ensemble contest, commonly known as “Ancon,” is a place where exciting performances are held. The performance of several people in one group has a charm different from that of a competition.

In order to participate in the Kyoto prefectural tournament of Ancon, a representative team is selected in the school’s preliminary round. However, with over 50 members, the Kitauji High School brass band is facing a variety of problems! Will Kumiko, the newly appointed head of the club, be able to make it through the preliminary rounds?
