In Noragami, Gods are powerful immortal beings who depend on humans for their existence. If humans stopped believing in them, they would vanish from existence.
On the other hand, humans need Gods for protection against evil spirits that are with them and will feed on their negative emotions.
Noragami explores this theme in a modern setting, with various other issues as well as providing stomach-churning comedy, especially from its protagonist Yato who is voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya.
Noragami is one of the best supernatural series with dark humor, so be sure not to miss this anime from Studio Bones!

God Yato who works odd jobs is not lucky. Fed up with his lazy lifestyle, his regalia partner suddenly quits.
He had no money, no worshippers, and no shrine to call home. But just when things start to seem hopeless, a bus accident forces him to cross paths with Hiyori Iki, a sweet and cheerful high school girl.
After the accident, Hiyori’s soul has a strange habit of escaping from her body, and after enlisting Yato’s help to bring her back to normal, she begins to fall into the world of spirits and gods.
But Hiyori isn’t the only one keeping an eye on Yato. The god from Yato’s past has returned, except he has no interest in a friendly reunion.
2. Noragami Aragoto (2015)

Episodes | 13 |
Aired | Fall 2015 |
Second season of Noragami.
Life for the god Yato doesn’t get any easier. He was still broke, without a temple, and his regalia utterly disrespected him.
Even worse, Bishamon, one of the deadliest war gods, is after his life. Blaming her for the death of her past regalia, she will stop at nothing until he kills her.
But there was more to the story than he could realize. Because it’s not quite there yet, there is someone working against him behind the scenes.
Amidst all this god drama and even more dangerous battles, Yato still needs to find a way to help Hiyori. Even though all choices cost him, and he doesn’t want to make that choice.
There are several OVAs in the form of special episodes, although they won’t affect the main story but are worth watching.
The Noragami manga series itself is still ongoing, and there is no sign of a third anime season yet.
